Contamination Studies

Contamination Studies

We offer Phase 1 and Phase 2 environmental investigations conforming to guidance document CLR11 and standards BS10175 and BS5930, for projects assessed at enquiry stage to have a low to medium environmental risk. All investigations are planned and reviewed by the Director, a chartered civil engineer.

Typically, we provide a two-stage service. An initial Phase 1 desk study will review the site’s environmental sensitivity, history, and geology from public archive data, and will always include a site visit by ourselves. Frequently, our preliminary environmental risk assessment will demonstrate to the satisfaction of the planners that no further investigation is necessary. Compared to internet based services, we offer a meaningful preliminary assessment based on the site visit and a careful assessment of the evidence. Our quoted rates will include post submission discussions with the planners.

The Phase 2 investigation, if required, will be quoted for at enquiry stage subject to the Phase 1 findings. It may range from some hand dug trial pits to a number of deep boreholes with ongoing gas and water monitoring. It will always involve chemical analyses of the soils, which is carried out by a trusted MCERTS accredited partner laboratory. We have worked for large developers and port operators, but can also test one off samples for private individuals.
